as long as we're on the subject of maps, i thought i'd offer this interactive map of los angeles: you enter an address, and it shows all of the crimes that have taken place in a 1 (or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5) mile radius in the past 3 (or 4 or 5 or 6 or 7) days. you can scroll over the jauntily color-coded markers for details.
