new york los angeles

new york is about instant gratification. you can pretty much get whatever you want, whenever you want it, fast.

los angeles is about delayed gratification. you have to plan life, think about how you're going to get somewhere, and how you'll get back.

new york presents itself to you. it is unavoidable. to find the wonder in LA you have to look. it is easy to avoid, if you choose.

new york is spontaneous. you have to work for LA.

So the moral of the story is: NY 1, LA 0.

no, no, not in new york. just thinking about the two. my travels take my elsewhere next week. and it's not a judgement call - just an observation. having to work for something isn't necessarily bad.

having never been to either place, I have to say I would enjoy NY more than LA because I hate car culture. This is why I can't live anywhere else in Canada except Montreal... or Vancouver.

I think I have to absolutely halfheartedly disagree. or disgree halfsies or something. The sponteneity in NY is easy but it's also sometimes far more unexpected than LA. And I think the surface of both cities lie pretty much in the same way.
