damn

apparently my car is so well designed, that it is actually more fuel efficient to keep the windows closed and the A/C on than to open the windows and mess with the aerodynamics and wind flow.

damn, car.

don't hate the prius. i think being more efficient with the windows up is common with most cars. we know you love the earth.

Julie is correct. in most cars it is more efficient to use the a/c.

hmmm, i guess i should have done some independent research before i posted something one of my design professors said in class.

i checked it out and it seems that the issue varies widely based on how fast you're driving and how aerodynamic the car is in the first place. i think the point my professor was trying to make is that the prius is one of the most aerodynamic cars in mass production, and therefore having the windows down creates higher drag and a greater reduction in overall fuel efficiency than in more traditionally designed cars.

i guess the exciting part for me is this intersection between design and sustainability, and the market success that these designs are beginning to achieve. it gives me hope.
